Enzo Maresca underlines next Chelsea position he wants to strengthen; 21-year-old Lukaku thinks 'will surpass him' labelled 'frontrunner'

Maresca’s Chelsea target €45m-rated winger Bakayoko

Chelsea have been looking to make some marquee signings going into the summer transfer window as the West Londoners look to build a base under Enzo Maresca, and they have reportedly identified PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko, per Football. London

There has been a lack of consistent goal scorers at Stamford Bridge, especially with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Mudryk struggling to generate output on the flanks. This played a domino effect at the Bridge as they looked to sign a new winger this summer.

Crystal Palace ace Michael Olise was regarded as a prime target for the summer. However, his decision to stay put at Selhurst Park means that Chelsea has to look elsewhere, and this is where Bakayoko comes into play. Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku thinks Bakayoko will surpass him ‘in the long run’.

A transfer full of potential and puzzlement

Chelsea are looking to sign Johan Bakayoko this summer.

The Belgian ace has been linked with multiple Premier League sides in the ongoing transfer window, although Chelsea haven’t been one of those sides making noise with links to his signatures. However, they are finally looking to make relevant noise and secure his services as they are the frontrunners to secure his services at the time of writing.

Transfermarkt values the 21-year-old for €45 million, though it is yet to be seen if his current employers would be willing to sell him for the aforementioned fees as the winger has secured a starting spot for his national side in the ongoing European Championship.

If the Blues do sign Bakayoko, it would be a weird situation for Madueke, who would feel the Belgian stepping into his shoes at Stamford Bridge by the man who replaced him at PSV.

This is still early to know if the Blues are going to pursue a move for Bakayoko; more should materialize in the upcoming week.
