Cristopher Vivell is closing in on Premier League return with Manchester United

Manchester United are set to appoint former Chelsea sporting director Christopher Vivell as their new director of recruitment, according to GiveMeSport. United will benefit from his services with the director agreeing to a short-term contract.

Following their FA Cup victory, Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag has solidified his position at the club. After a season of ups and downs at Old Trafford, the Red Devils’ management is preparing to bolster their squad, making significant additions to their backroom staff as part of this effort.

The former Chelsea sporting director is their latest key addition. The German was appointed at Chelsea in December 2022, but after seven months, club owner Todd Boehly made further changes, handing over much of the control to co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart.

Vivell brings a wealth of experience and a notable track record to the table, particularly highlighted by his time at clubs like RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg, as well as his involvement in high-profile transfer activities such as Erling Haaland’s move to Austria. His role in Chelsea’s January 2023 transfer spree, which saw the club spend over £300m on significant talents like Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, and others, underscores his strategic acumen in player recruitment and team building.

His extended stay at Old Trafford until at least the end of the next January window suggests a strategic commitment to bolster United’s competitive edge in terms of recruitment. Not that we will be batting for him to succeed in Red Devils’ colours.

Chelsea fans are eagerly anticipating significant summer signings of their own, hoping for a standout addition similar to Cole Palmer. The Blues have moved on from Vivell and hopefully will continue to get the better of Manchester United next season.
