Chelsea forward Cole Palmer won't have any added goal bonus in his contract

Cole Palmer makes Fans’ Premier League Team of the Season

Cole Palmer has been in the spotlight ever since he joined Chelsea last season, and the forward performance of this campaign has paid off as the 22-year-old won the Premier League as the youngest player of the season.

The forward has now been voted the Premier League team of the season by fans after the official Premier League posted the lineup, on Instagram which also includes Erling Haaland, Ole Watkins, Phil Foden, Trent Alex-Ander Arnold, Kevin de Bruyne, Rodri, William Saliba, David Raya, Ben White, and Grabiel Magalhaes.

It has been a season-defining year for the forward, who has recorded 22 goals in the Premier League and spearheaded the Blues to a sixth-place finish under former manager Mauricio Pochettino. Palmer’s debut season will go down as one of the best for him.

Even though the Blues weren’t playing at their peak, they were still able to win games and turn the season around under former boss Pochettino. Palmer was a major factor in several of the victories, as his goals won games in certain situations.

He pulled the team back from the brink of defeat against Manchester United. He was unstoppable against Everton, tallying four goals. Without him, the club struggled to win matches. Chelsea won only three games in Palmer’s absence and produced only 10 goals while in his presence the club recorded 10 wins and 51 goals.

Palmer will make bigger impact under Enzo Maresca

The forward will play under a different manager next season after Chelsea parted ways with Pochettino last week. With Enzo Maresca identified as the new coach to succeed the Argentine under whom Palmer has played at Manchester City and was nurtured by the Italian, it will be exciting to see the England international next season.

Palmer was discovered by Maresca at City Academy, despite Pep Guardiola’s lack of confidence in the forward. Palmer, 22, was a player who would succeed in whichever club he joined, and the Blues were lucky to pounce on the chance to sign him. Palmer will thrive under Maresca because the former City assistant coach will maximise the potential of Palmer in the forthcoming campaign.
