Al-Hilal make exorbitant offer for Serie A hitman also on Chelsea’s radar

Chelsea has the upper hand over PSG in the transfer battle for the £111 million Napoli star amid exit chances of Armando Broja

Al-Hilal have made massive offer to sign Napoli striker and Chelsea target Victor Osimhen

According to Sky Sports, Al-Hilal have tabled €140m (£120.3m) to Napoli for star striker Victor Osimhen, with weekly wages in the region of £1m amid interest from Premier League side Chelsea.

Earlier, the Saudi Arabian team also made a bid of €300 million (£259 million) for Paris Saint-Germain sensation Kylian Mbappe. But the 24-year-old rejected the opportunity to move to the middle east this summer.

Despite it being a solid offer for Osimhen, the Serie A club might turn down their bid as it still does not match their valuation of €150 million (£128.8 million) for the Nigerian striker.

The 24-year-old has also been a transfer target for Chelsea and Manchester United. But given that, Man United are on the verge of signing Rasmus Hojlund, it will be unlikely they will be looking to sign another striker this summer.

Chelsea are also in the market to sign a more experienced striker, as they currently have Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja on their roster for next season. With Romelu Lukaku also likely to leave, we need a reliable senior star who can lead the line.

Chelsea have long been admirers of Osimhen, but their pursuit of the Nigerian striker has softened considering Napoli’s asking price for the striker. The prolific striker led Napoli to the Scudetto last season for the first time since 1990 and scored 26 goals in 34 Serie A matches.

Since he is still young and has many years left to play at the highest level, it seems improbable that he would desire to join a Saudi club. It would have made sense for him to join them if he had been in his mid-30s, but Osimhen still has plenty to give to football and will only elevate his reputation by staying put in European football.

It is no secret that Chelsea need a striker and given the numbers being touted, we can dismiss us going big for Osimhen. With the club in talks for Vlahovic, it will come as a surprise if Chelsea will battle Al-Hilal for the Nigerian superstar.
