Chelsea target Kai Havertz sets deadline to decide his future
According to German publication Bild (h/t Express), Chelsea target Kai Havertz is keen to make a decision on his future by the end of this month.
In what could be bad news for us, he is open to staying at Bayer Leverkusen for another season. There were hopes that we could sign him for cheap. The belief was strengthened when the German side lost to Hertha Berlin yesterday.
The 21-year-old’s admission has now opened up new possibilities for Leverkusen to hold on to their prized asset. According to the report, the player is not keen to endure another 12 months of speculation and seeks to have his future settled.
Chelsea are yet to make a formal approach for the German star. Former England star Owen Hargreaves believes Havertz should stay put.
“Whoever gets Kai Havertz is getting a really special player, that’s for sure.”
The 21-year-old is one of the hottest properties in world football. He has scored 16 goals and 8 assists in 41 appearances this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The Blues attack has been strengthened by the addition of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech. Throwing Havertz into the mix will give us a formidable attack indeed.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has taken a personal interest in the 21-year-old. He contacted the German ace personally to try to work out a deal.
Premier League rivals Manchester United are also keen on Havertz. Having beat them to Werner, doing the same to Havertz will be sweet indeed. (h/t Football.london)

An option Chelsea have is they can try to do what Liverpool did with Naby Keita. The Reds agreed on a deal for the midfielder a season in advance.
Not only did it allow Leipzig to keep their star for another season but it ensured that the Reds also got their player.
