The Brazilian teenager is reportedly growing impatient with his peripheral squad status after struggling for regular minutes under the new regime.
Finding the perfect balance in attack has created an immediate problem for the West Londoners this season. The Stamford Bridge outfit boasts incredible attacking depth under new manager Xabi Alonso. That luxury has severely impacted playing time for Brazilian winger Estevao Willian. Reports from his homeland suggest the teenager is growing incredibly frustrated with his current role.
The attacker has accumulated exactly twenty minutes of Premier League action across three appearances this specific term. Breaking into the starting eleven lineup remains incredibly difficult. The exceptional form of his teammates presents a massive hurdle. The current attacking trio of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, and Joao Pedro have locked down the primary offensive positions completely.
Xabi Alonso Urges Patience For Talented Brazilian Winger
Alonso recently addressed the growing speculation during a press conference and insisted the youngster remains crucial. The head coach firmly rejected the idea of deploying him as a wing-back. The manager strongly believes his best position is as an inside forward without heavy defensive responsibilities. Maintaining peak physical fitness is also crucial after his serious hamstring injury last April.
Writing for football.london reporter Bobby Vincent explained the complex situation perfectly. Vincent noted that the player “deserves to be playing first team football” but admitted the current starting attackers are completely “undroppable”. Fellow journalist Jake Stokes agreed that the talented forward needs careful management. Stokes added that the Brazilian must prove he can be “consistently relied upon at the very highest level” before demanding regular starts.
The young forward proved his immense quality during landmark Champions League victories against Ajax and Barcelona last year. Easing him into the brutal physical demands of English football will ultimately protect his long-term development. The London outfit must work incredibly hard to convince their prized asset to trust the current sporting project. His breakthrough moment will eventually arrive if he remains entirely patient this season.
