Chelsea set to open talks for teenage Argentinian talent after scout recommendation

published :

Chelsea have been on an exercise of hoarding as many young talents in football as possible in recent seasons. The jury is still out on their recruiting decisions under Todd Boehly but that doesn’t seem to stop them from considering potential signings for the future.

At this point, Chelsea have so many players on their books and it remains to be seen if they at all have a plan for them in their future. It is not clear why youngsters still want to sign for the Blues either, considering there is no clear certainty on whether or not they will get a chance in the first team in the years to come.

The Blues have an expansive scouting network who go around the world looking for talented players that the club can potentially sign. Chelsea also make use of their sister club Strasbourg to send players on loan and allow them to develop before bringing them back to England.

Chelsea could be making a move for Ian Subiabre

Now, as per Give Me Sport, Chelsea are set to open talks with talented teenage Argentinian talent Ian Subiabre who plays for River Plate. The Blues have been recommended the player by a scout Alysson Marins who specializes in the South American region and his agent is expected to travel to England to talk to the club.

Talented yes, but no!

Subiabre is predominantly a right-winger who loves to cut on to his favoured left-foot. He is also capable of playing through the middle and also from the left but he isn’t exactly a traditional winger for that to be his position in the long run.

The 2007-born teenager has a contract with River Plate until 2026 [Transfermarkt] and could make a move to Europe soon. He has represented Argentina 20 times at the U-17 level and six times at the U-20 level, scoring a combined six goals during this period. Interestingly, he had a phase when he represented Chile as well.

The talent is obvious and it does feel like Ian is bound to play for a top club sooner rather than later in his career. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Chelsea need to make a move for him, considering the numerous talents at their disposal. The club would be better off focusing on the options that they have and pass on this opportunity.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea actually end up making a move for Ian Subiabre in the near future. At this point, Blues fans will have to start maintaining a log book to even keep track of the number of youngsters present at the club and let’s wait and see how this particular transfer interest pans out.
