£30k-per-week attacker leaves Chelsea to join Greek side on a loan spell

The English transfer window is closed, and the clubs are now focusing on their respective campaigns and team dynamics. However, Chelsea are still in business, making transfer moves in their bid to offload a hefty chunk of their unwanted players.

Notable players like Conor Gallagher and Raheem Sterling have already left the club on a loan move (to Arsenal) and a permanent transfer (to Atletico Madrid) respectively. The English Giants have got one more deal done and dusted.

It is worth noting that the Blueco. have gone all out to make more than 10 signings in the summer transfer window of 2024/25.

David Fofana moves to Athens on a season-long loan spell

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea’s center forward David Fofana who earns £30,000 per week has agreed to leave Stamford Bridge and join Greek club AEK Athens on a season-long loan deal.

Notably, the 21-year-old footballer who came to Chelsea in 2023, spent his last year with Burnley on a loan spell and now heads to a new assignment beyond the English club.

Marking his stint with The Clarets, the Ivory Coast international scored four goals and an assist for them in 15 appearances across all the competitions.

The Ivory Coast international spent his last season playing for the Premier League club Burnley F.C.

The departure of Fofana is undeniably a piece of very good news for the Pensioners as he is already spending his seasons on loan stints since joining the English Club. He is out of Maresca’s project which is why the young lad is dealing with such a situation.

A standout season ahead may boost his chances of showcasing his talent in the esteemed Premier League. The Ouragahio-born player undoubtedly possesses the qualities of a world-class footballer, yet reaching such heights requires further refinement. If the Super League of Greece can extract that elite level from Fofana, he could very well make his way directly to London.

Nevertheless, he has a long journey ahead and must demonstrate his skill to secure a spot in one of the most competitive football leagues in the world.
