A View From The Bridge

Who is Desire Doue? All about the Rennes star wanted by Chelsea and Bayern Munich

Chelsea chase French wonderkid Doue in bidding war

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Rennes winger Desire Doue in the ongoing summer transfer window. The Blues have continued talks with his employers for a probable €50 million arrival this summer transfer window, per Caught Offside.

The West Londoners have continued their transfer policy of late, going overboard to land young players with enormous potential. While the Blues compound on that policy, they have landed some of the most exciting profiles in world football, and they are looking to add another winger to this list as they fortify their interests in French prodigy Desire Doue.

Desire Doue has been impressive in the French top tier recently, and his performances have attracted interest from elite clubs around Europe, with four clubs making efforts to land his signatures this off-season. Alongside Chelsea, the likes of Bayern Munich and Chelsea have also expressed interest in landing the 19-year-old wonderkid.

In pursuit of his services, Bayern Munich launched a €35 million bid earlier this week, which was rejected by Rennes as they hold out for a possible €50 million for their star boy. Alongside the aforementioned trio of clubs, French giants Paris-Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on the proceedings and are expected to hold potential talks to land the winger.

Beyond Bayern’s bid

Desire Doue has been destined for a big future in the game, and it would be an exciting prospect to have him in England and for the Premier League to boast such admirable talent. If he were to move to West London, the fans would take no time to take up to him and draw comparisons to modern legend Eden Hazard, who also moved from the French League to Stamford Bridge at a relatively young age before becoming a household name in English football.

Doue is blessed with equally apt technical quality and ability and plays his football with similar elegance. So, there is no doubt that signing the Hazard successor would be a shrewd move for the West Londoners.

Though looking at the project and opportunities at hand, he could prefer to move to Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs as of now, as they have a better path to offer youngsters.
