Portuguese starlet set for Stamford Bridge move as he undergoes medical at Cobham

Veiga set to sign for the West Londoners

Chelsea have been one of the most active clubs in the transfer window this summer, and the Blues are closing in on yet another arrival as he goes through his medical tests at Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham today.

The West Londoners have compounded their transfer policy to bring some of the most exciting and high-profile youngsters to the Bridge as they bag on their development and potential to pay off in the long term. The Blues are seemingly closing in on another player in the same bracket who will be taking up the defensive duties on the pitch.

Premier League giants have been subject to links with a move for Portuguese starlet Renato Veiga off late. The Sporting Lisbon-trained defensive midfielder, who can also feature at the heart of the defence and on the left wing defensively, has been taking strides at FC Basel. His impressive performances at Basel are set to earn him a move to the most prestigious football league in the world as Chelsea nears his signature.

Veiga on the verge

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirms that Renato Veiga has started his medical to conclude his summer transfer and seal a move to Chelsea by the end of this week.

Veiga will sign for the Blues in a €14 million deal with a contract at the club until June 2032.

He is a player that not many supporters in England can claim they watched before they heard his name for the first time last week; however, he has received glowing reviews from the Portuguese media, and that suggests that he may have what it takes to play for Chelsea over the long term.
