Marc Guiu speaks for the first time since moving to Chelsea

Chelsea’s new signing Marc Guiu recently gave an interview to his new club’s in-house media team after his move from Barcelona.

Made available on the club’s official website, the interview with the teenage forward sheds light on how he’s feeling after his move to England.

“It’s an immense joy to sign for Chelsea and I struggled to sleep ahead of the journey here because I was so excited. Ever since I was small, it was my dream to play in the Premier League.

“Now I have the opportunity to come here to Chelsea and I will work my hardest to be successful for the club.”

Guiu on his move to Chelsea

The 2006-born striker made 27 appearances for Barça’s main and B teams in the 2023/24 season across all competitions as he made his LaLiga debut midway through last season and scored within a minute of his debut, going on to deliver 9 goals and 4 assists. (Source: Transfermarkt)

Chelsea enter the 2024/25 season under new manager Enzo Maresca, whom they brought in from Leicester City after the latter’s promotion from the Championship at the first time of asking. Maresca worked under Pep Guardiola at Man City as the U23 coach. Incidentally, Chelsea kick off their 2024/25 Premier League campaign next month at home against the defending champions.

In terms of player arrivals, Chelsea have also roped in attacking midfielder Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa as well as centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo, who had become a free agent after leaving Fulham.

An interesting move

Owing to their caprice, Chelsea have so far failed to offer their players, both old and new, a stable platform upon which to grow, a healthy environment in which to thrive, but then the immediate period of the post-Roman Abramovich era was always going to be a turbulent one.

One that cannot be denied, however, is Chelsea’s knack for signing exciting players, lots of them. Many of these players would actually turn good as well if Chelsea could only offer them some time to blossom.

Guiu is an exciting player. Maresca is an exciting coach. Here’s hoping the coming season turns out to be different than the past two ones.
