Gyokeres gold rush
Chelsea have been looking to bring in an elite striker to solve the scoring woes at the Bridge this summer, and multiple players have been linked with a move to the West Londoners; one of them is Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Enzo Maresca has been looking to implement an attractive style of play, although he will need critical presence upfront to ensure that his tactics get equally effective output on the score sheets.
Viktor Gyokeres is one of the hottest properties in the striking market at the moment. He had an impressive campaign last season as he scored 43 goals and further contributed to 15 assists in 49 games across all competitions in an impressive campaign.
Competition for Gyokeres heats up
While there are many clubs involved in the race for his signatures, Chelsea are one of the clubs aiming to sign the 26-year-old for a summer transfer window. However, his £86 million release clause is a hurdle too hefty for Premier League clubs to consider.
Alongside Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal have also expressed interest in Gyokeres services.
Plenty of admirers for his services means his current employers are not willing to negotiate a lower fee. Given the fact that they signed him up for a cheap £16.9 million from Coventry, they would make a significant profit on his services.
Arsenal are raising funds by selling fringe players as Emile Smith Rowe nears Fulham transfer while Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson have been linked with a move to Marseille and Leicester City, respectively.
Senior correspondent at Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke, revealed that the 26-year-old is Arsenal’s priority target for the summer. He also suggests that Liverpool and Tottenham are also making moves behind the scenes to land the striker.
Chelsea will need to act fast if they are to compete for Viktor Gyokeres’ signature this summer.
