Marc Cucurella tells Nico Williams to snub Barcelona and join Chelsea
Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella seems to be already doing transfer business for the Blues after he urged Spain sensation Nico Williams to join the West Londoners rather than Barcelona in the summer transfer window. Williams is having a productive Euro 2024 campaign with La Roja and has scored once.
Spain will next face host nation Germany in the quarterfinals of the competition, and the Athletic Bilbao star will have the opportunity to demonstrate his skills in the game. Since the tournament started, Williams has been getting more limelight than he was receiving at Bilbao, as the forward finally got to show his talent on one of the biggest stages.
Chelsea have expressed their interest, and the 21-year-old has a £46.5 million release clause, which is certainly affordable for a club like Chelsea that has continued to spend significant amounts on their signings.
Cucurella is already doing some of Chelsea’s transfer business work after he urged the 21-year-old to snub Barcelona and join Chelsea, (h/t football-Espana). Speaking to Sport, he commented:
‘’He is a great player; he is bringing out all his potential. He would be a great signing for Barcelona, but it all depends on what he wants. I’ve been telling him to sign for Chelsea.’’
Cucurella seems to be handling some side business for Chelsea after impressing for Spain in the Euros. Signing Williams would be a massive move for the club because the 21-year-old has demonstrated that he is ready to take on big challenges after his displays in competitions. Williams is mature enough to adapt to playing in any league, and if he comes to Chelsea, the Blues will have a wealth of talented players.

Furthermore, Chelsea’s left wing hasn’t had a game-changer like the right wing has with Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke. Since Eden Hazard left, we have not been able to find a player for the left wing who can make a big difference. If the Blues sign Williams, then we will have a player who has the calibre to make a big impact in matches.
