Chelsea star who had an impressive Euros 2024 has started pre-season training at Cobham

Chelsea star Marc Cucurella started pre-season training at Cobham ahead of the new season

Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella has returned to Cobham to start pre-season training ahead of the new campaign. The Spaniard was on holiday after Spain’s Euro 2024 final victory over England on July 14. According to Football London, the defender will not fly to the USA for the pre-season games.

The 26-year-old Chelsea full-back thrived in the Euro campaign with his stellar performance for the national team. Cucurella played six out of seven games for his national side in the Euro and provided the winning assist for Mikel Oyarzabal in the final, securing La Roja’s fourth Euro title.

He was a consistent performer for Luis de la Fuente’s side in the international campaign, and his key contributions on the left flank helped the Spanish national team win the title after 12 years. After two weeks of holiday, the Spaniard has joined the Cobham training centre to start preparations for the upcoming season.

Cucurella shared a picture of the Chelsea training centre with the caption “Back to the office” on Instagram. The Spaniard is set to impress the new manager with his early arrival at Cobham. The club has confirmed that Cucurella will not join the squad in the USA for the pre-season games.

Can Cucrella impress Maresca at Chelsea?

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca would be impressed with Cucurella’s performance in the Euro campaign, and the Italian manager may expect the same level of performance for the Blues. The defender is likely to be included in the pre-season game on August 11 against Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge.

Maresca is set to give new roles to the players in the squad and has used skipper Reece James in the centre of the park for the pre-season games, a new experience for the English defender. Maresca, having proved his ability to invert players into the midfield under Mauricio Pochettino last year, might replicate the same strategy with the Spanish defender in the upcoming season.
