Kai Haverts asserts moving to Arsenal from Chelsea was worth it
Former Chelsea player Kai Havertz described his move from Stamford Bridge to Arsenal as worth it after the German international ended his four-year stint at Blues to complete a move to Arsenal.
Havertz joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019 but failed to live up to the hefty price the Blues paid for him, which was around £75.8m. the German international’s only highlight throughout his Chelsea career was scoring a goal in the Champions League final against Manchester City to lead the Blues to the Holy Grail.
The 24-year-old, who arrived at Chelsea as a very young player following a successful stint at Leverkusen, was always expected to perform well. However, Havertz never seemed to fit in the league, and in two seasons, he was unable to justify the Blues’ expensive transfer fee.
Now he has put salt on Chelsea fans’ wounds after saying his move from West London to North London was worth it. Speaking to Welt am Sonntag, he said via Fabrizio Romano:
“The change from Chelsea to Arsenal was worth it. Chelsea fans were angry that I left; the Arsenal fans weren’t so enthusiastic either, because it didn’t go so well at the start.”
Despite scoring in the Champions League final, Havertz never seemed to win over Chelsea supporters, therefore the Blues’ supporters were really indifferent to his decision to join Arsenal. Aside from that, he never had a fantastic season and found it difficult to justify the club’s high investment in him.
The forward failed to make a difference in the league despite spending four years at Chelsea, and the board took advantage of this when Arsenal approached, offering a high transfer fee to get him. Despite their struggles under Mikel Arteta, he managed to finish the season with 13 goals in the league.

Cole Palmer, who finished the season with 22 goals in the league in his debut Chelsea season, was a better upgrade for the Blues than Havertz, so it’s safe to assume that Blues supporters were never very incensed about the German departure.
