A View From The Bridge

Who is Aaron Anselmino? All about the Boca Juniors star Chelsea have bid £17.2m for

Chelsea made a generous bid for Boca Juniors’ rising star Aaron Anselmino

According to the Metro, Chelsea have recently made a £17.2 million bid for Boca Juniors’ centre-back Aaron Anselmino. The 19-year-old Argentine national has a lot of expectations from the Blues, it seems.

A year ago, the teenager, who attended Boca’s academy, made his debut for the main squad. Anselmino has only made 10 senior appearances for Boca in his career thus far due to hamstring injury problems that he has had since making his debut.

However, irrespective of his injury, he showed promise in the games he played for his club and that seems to have impressed several elite clubs, including AC Milan and the Blues.

Chelsea allegedly made a bid of £14.1 million ($18 million) with an additional £3.1 million ($4 million) in add-ons. The report also states that Anselmino is eager to come to Stamford Bridge and that Boca will most likely accept Chelsea’s offer.

The Metro also states that Boca’s president and Argentine legend Juan Roman Riquelme supported Aaron’s development into a “great” defender for his country. He said:

“He has developed a lot. With the growth, the head that he has and the desire to learn that he shows, he is on his way to being a great footballer. He is going to be a player for the national team. He is going to compete with the centre-backs.”

Chelsea have spent £1 billion on signings under Todd Boehly‘s tenure, and the Blues don’t appear to be stopping anytime soon. The Blues are eager to help new manager Enzo Maresca ahead of his debut campaign by adding new players.

Aaron has made Chelsea believe in him

At only the start of his career, moving to an elite club like Chelsea would be a perfect opportunity for the 19-year-old to grab this summer. With the proper training and experience in elite competitions, he could certainly grow into a remarkable asset for the Blues.

However, it is still a huge gamble to bring in young signings, even when the club is financially hanging very close to a PSR rule breach. Chelsea’s transfer strategy has always been like this and it will be interesting to see what comes out of this one.
