Opinion: Chelsea not needing to sell in June for Premier League PSR is a big boost keeping 2024 Euros in mind

Chelsea told they won’t have to sell players to comply with Profitability and Sustainability Rules

Chelsea have been handed a big relief in complying with the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules after earlier being told to sell players in order to avoid breaching the league’s financial law. The Blues have been told they won’t have to sell players to abide by PSR.

The Blues were given June 30 as the deadline to sell the players to comply with the league PSR. However, now that there aren’t such things to do, the club will now operate wisely and sell the players when they return from the upcoming Euros competition.

Since the takeover of Todd Boehly, the Blues have spent exorbitant amounts of money on the signing of new players, and this has raised eyebrows as many feel that the club has not yet broken the league PSR rule.

Chelsea have already put a few players on the market in the summer, with the likes of Armando Broja, Conor Gallagher, and Trevoh Chalobah already on the list of selling players. With Gallagher and Broja on international duty, the Blues could have found it difficult to sell them.

Broja was sent on loan to Fulham in the hope that he would get more minutes on the pitch, but he barely played a few minutes, and this has certainly lowered his stock in the market. But now that he will represent Albania in Euros if he makes an excellent impression, it will help the Blues sell him for a reasonable price.

Meanwhile, Gallagher’s future continues to be up in the air, and his performance last season was enough to underline that Chelsea will hope to get maximum profit. The same could be said for Chalobah, who returned to action in the second half of the season, and his performance should further up his price tag.

Chelsea will now work patiently during the summer transfer and will offload the players where they get the maximum profit. It’s a big relief given they had to sell the players before June 30 in a hurry, and this could have resulted in low revenue, which would have impacted our signings.
