Mauricio Pochettino breaks silence after Chelsea sacking: “We understand how important this football club is to you”

Mauricio Pochettino opens up about his time at Chelsea with recent Instagram post

Mauricio Pochettino has finally spoken after his exit from Chelsea on a mutual consent last month. The 52-year-old was in charge of the club only for a season and led them to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and qualification for Europe via the Conference League.

Pochettino’s season at the club had mixed results, as the Blues started the campaign on a poor note but picked up pace and he managed to end the campaign on a big note. However, after a series of behind-the-scenes disagreements, the Blues board decided to part ways with him.

Chelsea have already found the former Tottenham Hotspur manager successor and appointed Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca yesterday on a five-year contract with an option to extend if the club is impressed by his work.

Since his exit, Pochettino finally opened up about his exit from Chelsea, and the Argentine posted to his 1.1 million followers on Instagram, where he said, via Mirror:

“We understand how important this football club is to you all, and that is why we work so hard to give you a Chelsea you can be proud of. I am so pleased with the level the team reached and the way the players and staff have all worked so hard to increase their standards; they deserve great credit, and I hope you felt that too in how they performed on the pitch.’’

Mauricio Pochettino left Chelsea with pride.

Pochettino’s time at Chelsea won’t go down as one of the best seasons, but in the end, he managed to show that he was capable of leading the Blues to trophies had he received a chance for another season. But certainly, he felt disappointment after not receiving enough trust from the 52-year-old and had to eventually leave with mutual consent.

Fans seemed to be convinced by him, but the board never really looked convinced by his work, and given that he also wanted to have an input in the transfer, that was another reason the manager and board never had a good relationship. We can’t really say much and wish Pochettino all the best in his future endeavours.
