La Liga giants approach Chelsea over exit-linked star currently playing in the Euros

Atletico Madrid approach Chelsea over Conor Gallagher

According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Atletico Madrid have contacted Chelsea over a possible move for their midfielder Conor Gallagher, who has an uncertain future at the club. The Spanish team is currently learning about the player’s situation and whether he will be willing to make a move.

The Spanish club has a list of targets they could move in the summer, with the likes of Robin L.E. Normand, Artem Dovbyk, Morata, and Samu Omorodion among the options. Now they have approached Blues for the England international.

However, it could prove to be challenging given Chelsea are demanding a £50 million price for the 24-year-old. Gallagher was the Blues’ important player last season under Mauricio Pochettino and also captained the club during the absence of Reece James.

He thrived under the Argentine manager, but the exit of Pochettino could also affect Gallagher, as it will be interesting to see if the 24-year-old will fit into the new head coach’s Enzo Maresca system. Chelsea are open to selling the player despite the midfielder’s reluctance to leave.

Gallagher has a year left on his contract, and Chelsea would want to make a decision quickly because they could lose him for free next season. Either they extend his contract or sell him during this summer transfer window. It’s unlikely the midfielder would want to join a club outside of the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are also interested in signing him. If Chelsea decide to sell, maybe he could pick one of these teams. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Gallagher, as Chelsea are clear with their decision and won’t budge if the interested parties meet his price tag.

Gallagher’s status for the upcoming season could be decided by Maresca. However, Gallagher has made notable improvements over the previous season and has demonstrated his ability to tweak his shortcomings. Perhaps the Italian manager can build on this progress in the current campaign.
