Atletico Madrid target Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has emerged as a target for Spanish club Atletico Madrid, but the Blues have no intention to sell the Senegalese forward. The 23-year-old joined the Blues from Stamford Bridge and scored 14 goals in his first Premier League season.

According to TalkSport, (h/t Daily Mail), Jackson has been unhappy with Mauricio Pochettino leaving the club. Despite this, Chelsea plan to keep the former Villarreal centre-forward, who has a bright future ahead of him.

Jackson’s signing came as a surprise, as when the club were suffering a massive goal drought, they went on to sign another young forward which didn’t go well with fans. He did struggle to settle in the league, but he soon hit his stride and ended the campaign on a strong note.

The 23-year-old’s development as a striker was evident in the last campaign. However, some areas still require improvement, such as his finishing, which was disappointing to witness as Jackson wasted some quite easy opportunities. Jackson has a high roof and the potential to become an outstanding striker, so the Blues are eager to see him blossom in the team.

Next season, Jackson will be ready to show his scoring abilities, as it was his first season and we cannot go tough on him. He has massive talent, and all he needs is more coaching. Once he hones his striking ability, we would have a world-class striker at the helm.

Credits go to Pochettino, who developed him and played a crucial role in being patient with him despite Jackson being poor in matches. It certainly didn’t go well with him with the Pochettino exit, but hopefully, Enzo Maresca will further enhance his game at the club.

He will operate under a different system next season and sometimes it can bring the best out of you. The Blues are clear about Jackson’s future because he is not for sale and will hope to bring in more competition for the striker as they continue their search for another centre-forward this summer.
