Chelsea defender Levi Colwill is open to joining Bayern Munich

Chelsea star Levi Colwill is open to leaving the Blues amidst interest from Bayern Munich.

According to a report from Sky Sports Germany, via Daily Mail, a switch to a German club would be possible from the player’s side if the club is not willing to let the centre-back leave. The defender returned to Chelsea last season after enjoying a productive loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Colwill was crucial under Mauricio Pochettino and was used as a left-back and centre-back. He was always a preferred player under the Argentine manager, who left the club last month on mutual consent.

However, Colwill suffered a slew of injuries that hampered his season, and the 21-year-old missed a set of matches and couldn’t participate in the last few games of the season.

Colwill is open to joining Bayern, but the German club is not willing to meet his price tag, which could shrug off their interest in the England international. Colwill is under contract at Chelsea until 2029, and the Blues would have enough chances to decide unless Colwill forces for a move away.

Should the defender receive a compelling offer, the Blues may consider selling him. Colwill remains a valuable member of the team for the time being, though, and Chelsea have no plans to move him on until a team makes a serious bid. We are not overly concerned because Bayern is refusing to pay his asking price, and Colwill will be important in the upcoming campaign.

Colwill had an injury-blighted season, but he will be fit to participate next term under new manager Enzo Maresca. The fans don’t have to worry about his future as it all depends on the club’s decision, even if Bayern reach a personal agreement with the player because at last Chelsea will decide if they have to sanction a deal or not.
