“He’s ready to make the step up”- Chelsea chiefs give their verdict on Tosin Adarabioyo’s free transfer

Steal of the summer? Chelsea nab Tosin Adarabioyo on free transfer after rebuffing offers

Chelsea FC have made their first signing under new boss Enzo Maresca as they sign Manchester City graduate Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer. He will arrive at Stamford Bridge as his contract at Craven Cottage runs out at the conclusion of the ongoing month.

Tosin Adarabioyo has been one of the players that multiple Premier League sides have been vying for in the lead-up to the summer transfer window. His performances at Fulham have not only been excellent but also have foretold a tale of experience and maturity at the back, which explains why the likes of Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United were looking to snap his signatories.

However, Chelsea have beaten their Premier League rivals as they announce the arrival of the 26-year-old on a free transfer. He will officially become a Blue when his contract with the Cottagers expires at the end of June.

Co-sporting directors at Chelsea, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, have expressed their delight in securing Tosin Adarabioyo’s services, as the duo praises his maturity and commitment at the heart of defence. Speaking following the official announcement of Tosin Adarabioyo’s Chelsea move, the duo said:

“Throughout his career, he’s showcased his maturity and defensive qualities and gained a wealth of experience in the Premier League… He’s ready to make the step up to #CFC and work alongside the talented players in our squad.”

Chelsea will have a defensive reconstruction in the off-season as thirty-nine-year-old veteran Thiago Silva bids adieu to the Blues this summer, while Cobham graduate Trevoh Chalobah is also expected to leave the club this summer. Tosin Adarabioyo’s arrival could serve as an accelerating boost to secure Trevoh Chalobah’s Chelsea exit.
