Fabrizio Romano says Bundesliga striker still hasn't made up mind over Chelsea transfer despite £56m release clause decision
Fabrizio Romano provides the latest development on Benjamin Sesko amid interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal. The highly-rated striker has emerged as a top candidate for Premier League sides and has been valued at around £56m.
Sesko made his mark in the German league, finishing the season with 14 goals in the Bundesliga last season, scoring goals in seven consecutive games. Chelsea will be keen to have a striker who is 6’5 with an imposing personality.
He is the striker made for the Premier League and makes an instant mark. He is not afraid to challenge a defender in terms of air or pace. He excels in all the positions, despite being just 21. The Blues need this kind of ruthless centre-forward who can make a major impact in front of the goal.
However, the Slovenian hasn’t made his mind up yet, with the likes of Arsenal and United also keen on signing him. Romano has provided new news on the 21-year-old’s future on his YouTube channel and said via Manchester Evening News:
“Now, Sesko has to decide whether he wants to stay at Leipizg and extend his contract or leave and probably go to the Premier League. So, the first step has to be this one. Then, which clubs? They are all in the race; nothing has been decided yet, and I can guarantee that. Sesko is still taking his time to decide between Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal. These three clubs are in the race, everything is still open, and Sesko has not accepted anything yet. He has all the projects in front of him, so it’s basically up to Benjamin Sesko to decide what he wants to do.”
Sesko has a big future ahead of him, and if he wants to join the Premier League, then Chelsea will be best suited because we are undergoing a rebuild but have shown that with a reliable striker, they have the squad to challenge for silverware.
Arsenal and United can also present their cases, but the Gunners have been dominant in the past two seasons and still ended the campaign without trophies. Sesko can join an already-built team, but their lack of pedigree for winning trophies is what makes them a poor option. At United, they already have a talented striker in Rasmus Hojlund, who should be their primary player to develop.
He has the freedom to choose, and Chelsea makes the strongest argument for him to sign with them in the summer because he will be a preferred striker there and have healthy competition from Nicolas Jackson.
