Fabrizio Romano deny Chelsea star Levi Colwill being linked with move to Bayern Munich

Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Levi Colwill rumours of linking him with a move to Bayern Munich will be a big relief, as Chelsea have no intention to sell the centre-back, which is important for the club and is part of their plan for next season under the new manager.

Colwill was having an impressive previous season before he had an injury that prevented him from playing for the remainder of it. To stave off potential suitors, the 21-year-old also inked a new deal that will keep him with the team until 2029.

He also spent a season-long loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and was crucial in helping them secure a European spot. The Blues recalled him for the last campaign, where he was the preferred candidate in the lineup.

However, the 22-year-old was used as a left-back under Mauricio Pochettino and was able to settle easily in the position. 32 appearances in total before injuries hampered the latter part of his season. The injury also cost Colwill a spot in the England squad ahead of Euro 2024.

Chelsea won’t entertain any offer for Colwill after Romano confirmed they see the centre-back as an integral part of the club next season under new manager Enzo Maresca. Bayern Munich appointed new head coach Vincent Kompany after parting company with former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel. Bayern could revamp their squad in the summer under the former Burnley manager.

Colwill is one of the best ball-playing defenders and will be crucial under Maresca, who would want the England international as he suits his possession-based football style. It’s unlikely that Chelsea will sell Colwill, but a big offer could tempt the club.

We have seen it previously when they had to sell Mason Mount due to financial reasons, but currently, the club doesn’t need to comply with Premier League PSR. Thus, the West Londoners are set to count on Colwill to return to full fitness for the next term.
