Ex-England international says Chelsea ‘are in shambles’ following Mauricio Pochettino sack

Wayne Bridge feels Chelsea owners have created shambles at club

Wayne Bridge has called out Chelsea owners for creating shambles at the club since taking over the Blues. Since the arrival of Todd Boehly and Co., they have endured a rollercoaster ride, which has seen plenty of managers get sacked and spend exorbitant amounts of money on new signings.

Chelsea have already shown their impatience towards appointing new managers. Mauricio Pochettino was the last victim of it, having departed the club just a season ago. The same transpired for Graham Potter, who couldn’t complete a campaign at Chelsea.

Moreover, the Blues have handed long-term contracts to players, and most of their signings have been players below the age of 25. This has led to the club performing poorly in the games due to the inexperience of the squad. Last season, Pochettino did manage to end the season with a sixth-place finish, but it was not enough to keep the 52-year-old.

Now former Manchester City player Bridge has been criticised by the Chelsea board which feels they are in shambles with the way they are operating. Speaking to Betfred via DAZN, he said:

“It’s a bit of a shambles at Chelsea with the number of players they’ve got, the contracts they’re on, and the inconsistency of everything. A lot of managers don’t get a lot of time, and it seems like Chelsea chucks money down the drain a lot of the time. It’s not always about the manager; you’ve got to look at the players as well.”

Wayne is right with his assessment because someone from outside will feel what Chelsea are really doing with their signing and spending so much money changing managers regularly, but still, the results are poor and the team is not performing up to par with all that spending and new managers every season.

We cannot argue with that point because they are right, and if we want to present a solid case, then we can tell them to be patient as the results slowly come out. Pochettino’s firing was unexpected, despite the fact that he was able to lead the club to a European finish. But we need to look forward, Enzo Maresca will have a massive task ahead of him.

Nonetheless, his job is somewhat eased by Pochettino, and every player has enough experience to fight for a trophy next season. However, next campaign they will have a new manager and take time to settle into the new system. Thus, during the pre-season, we expect them to be ready for the new term.
