Djordje Petrovic reveals the nickname he has given Chelsea teammate Cole Palmer: "I know people call him Cold Palmer"
Chelsea goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic has a nickname for teammate Cole Palmer. Petrovic and Palmer joined Chelsea last season, though it took the former Manchester City star no time to show his talent, whereas Petrovic took his moment to settle in the league.
Palmer was the season’s star for Chelsea, as he finished the campaign with 22 Premier League goals and will now represent England at Euro 2024. Petrovic needed a chance to show his talent, and when Robert Sanchez was injured, the Serbian got the No. 1 spot, and the goalie didn’t disappoint.
Petrovic became the preferred choice under ex-manager Mauricio Pochettino and went on to make a good impression. However, Palmer always took the limelight, and his goalscoring attributes and performance made him the Premier League Young Player of the Year.
Whenever Palmer scores goals, he tends to fold his hands and celebrate in a way that makes him feel cold, which has led to people calling him Cold Palmer. But Petrovic has a different nickname for the 22-year-old. Speaking to the official Chelsea website, he said:
“I know people call him Cold Palmer, which is a correct nickname for him, but for me, he is Beans.”
Well, that is a strange nickname for Palmer, given that Cold Palmer suits him more. Beans? We don’t know well every teammate might have a different nickname for Palmer. They call each other by funny names, and those certainly have some inside jokes related to their nicknames. But nothing can beat Cold Palmer.
The forward had an astounding season with Chelsea, finishing as the second-highest scorer in the league, only surpassed by Erling Haaland, a former colleague. Under new coach Enzo Maresca, Palmer and Petrovic will both be key players in the upcoming campaign and higher expectations will be placed on the former City star.
