Chelsea youngster decides to pen first pro contract with Blues after rejecting multiple teams – Romano

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tayo Subuloye will ink his first Chelsea professional contract

Chelsea youngster Tayo Subuloye has decided to commit his future to the club and will soon extend his contract at the Blues, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 16-year-old academy player plays in the U18 Premier League and has made four league appearances.

The teenager attracted interest from other clubs as well but will continue at Chelsea and will sign his first-ever professional deal with the club when he turns 17. Subuloye’s performance has certainly been rewarded, and in the future, we might see him play for the senior team.

Many Chelsea academy players have made their names, coming through the ranks of Cobham, and showcasing their talent for the senior side. Last season, Mauricio Pochettino introduced the likes of Alfie Gilchrist and Josh Acheapong.

Subuloye will soon have a chance to show his credentials at the senior level, but it’s all about being patient and continuing to improve. When the manager feels he is ready, we can expect him to make his debut. It’s good to see the board is also focusing on developing the much-esteemed academy players rather than just buying youngsters from other clubs.

We have added a lot of young players since the club’s takeover, but we also need to keep giving our academy players the encouragement and growth that they need because academies are the foundation of most successful clubs.

Chelsea continues to unearth new Cobham stars.

We have one of the best academies in Europe, and we have unearthed many top-class players over the years. However, what’s the toughest challenge is to continue to maintain your place in the first team, and we have not seen any academy players continue at the club.

Subuloye is too young, and once he turns 17, he will sign his first professional contract, which will be one of the highlights of his career, and the second will be playing for the first team. Enzo Maresca will hopefully be keeping an eye on his development and give him a chance when he deems fit.
