Opinion: Chelsea should be all over bargain £15m deal for Bundesliga star with 30 goals last season

Opinion: Chelsea should go all out to sign impressive Bundesliga star Serhou Guirassy

According to Football. London, Chelsea are interested in Stuttgart star Serhou Guirassy, who has a £15m release clause in his contract and has scored 30 goals in all competitions last season.

If Chelsea are sure of their interest, they will need to act swiftly, as Borussia Dortmund are in advanced discussions to sign the striker.

The focus remains on the striker, to provide able competition to the impressive but young Nicolas Jackson. Guirassy stands out because he has the experience to help Chelsea in the near future and also help bring the best out of Jackson.

The Guinean attacker is in top form and has had a great 2023–24 season. His well-polished all-around game can aid Maresca tactically, as he gives the advantages Jackson lacks without requiring the management to significantly change the playstyle since Guirassy is not too dissimilar to the Senegalese striker.

The 28-year-old was in world-class form for Stuttgart last season, scoring exactly 30 goals in 30 games, and it’s not surprising to see the Blues now showing serious interest along with other Premier League clubs.

He finished second to Harry Kane in the scoring charts last season, making him an appealing prospect for potential suitors.

Bild adds that Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are also interested in the Guinean attacker, who wants to know his future by the end of June

The presence of Nicolas Jackson and his improved form towards the end of last season surely show it’s worth sticking with him for a bit longer so he can continue his development, which a younger striker signing would likely complicate.

Guirassy, on the other hand, might step in and give a more experienced option to Jackson, allowing new manager Enzo Maresca to rotate between the two, while Jackson would undoubtedly benefit from practising alongside a seasoned player like Guirassy. Despite his and his family’s happiness at Stuttgart, the striker might be tempted by a move to London.
