Chelsea midfielder Charlie Webster bids emotional farewell to Chelsea after 9-year stint

20-year-old Chelsea midfielder Charlie Webster took to social media to send an emotional message to Chelsea after his move. He posted a photo of him as a young boy holding the Chelsea shirt on Instagram with the caption, “Thank you Chelsea FC. A beautiful decade: years that will never be forgotten. To have been able to call Chelsea my home since nine years old has been a privilege. I’ve always viewed football as a journey and I am proud the club has played such a role in my career and life up to this point. To all the staff, players, coaches and fans, I wish you all the very best.”

Burton Albion have secured the permanent acquisition of Chelsea teenager Charlie Webster, ending the midfielder’s nine-year stay at Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old joined Chelsea at the under-10 level and has been a member of the club’s youth team since the age of 18. He did not make a first-team appearance for the club, but he did sit on the bench a few times during cup tournaments.

Webster played last season on loan with Eredivisie side Heerenveen, where he appeared 13 times and scored once. He’s just signed a three-year contract with the Brewers.

Webster’s journey from the academy to a League One club, Burton Albion, on a three-year contract highlights the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent and providing them with opportunities to gain valuable experience. As he continues to progress, there’s hope that he’ll eventually make an impact on the first team, further validating Chelsea’s investment in his development.
