AC Milan interested in signing Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku

According to Sky Sports Italy, AC Milan have expressed their interest in signing Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku with 114 appearances for the Belgium national team will return to Stamford Bridge after completing his loan spell at AS Roma, scoring 21 goals across all competitions.

Milan are set to appoint Paulo Fonseca as a new manager and is already making transfer plans as wants to sign a new striker after former Blues star Oliver Giroud announced his exit and joined the Major League Soccer club this summer.

Lukaku, who would be open to leaving Chelsea, would join a different Serie A club after already playing for Inter Milan thrice. Meanwhile, it’s unlikely they will sign him permanently and could ask about different conditions, such as a loan for the 31-year-old.

The Serie A club has an excellent relationship with the Blues after doing plenty of transfer business, which involved Fikayo Tomori, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Christian Pulisic joining Milan. The forward will be permanently sold by the Blues, as they have made clear. The striker, who signed with Chelsea in 2021 for a whopping cost, eventually went on loan, first to Inter and then to Roma, as the Blues made their intentions clear to get rid of him.

The Blues will be hoping that Milan seeks to offer him a permanent contract rather than just on loan. Lukaku has played in Seria A for far too long, and he consistently produces outstanding performances in the league, scoring quite a number of goals.

Besides Milan, Napoli are also keen on signing him, and perhaps Belgium will be inclined towards joining the Antonio Conte side as he has already played under him and will certainly thrive after both led Inter to Scudetto in 2020.

Meanwhile, the Blues will allow the forward to leave to the club who provides the best offer, Thus it will be interesting to see which Serie A side will tempt the West Londoners into selling the former Everton striker.
