Moises Caicedo is happy to finally start his goal-scoring journey of his Chelsea tenure
The expensive Chelsea signing, Moises Caicedo‘s goal on the last day of the season helped the Blues defeat Bournemouth 2-1, and the 22-year-old midfielder was thrilled to start his goal-scoring career in style, and he is happy to finally score.
After a protracted deal that cost a British record of £115 million, Caicedo struggled at first at Stamford Bridge after missing much of the preseason and giving out a somewhat disappointing season.
It seems that Caicedo saved the best for last, as the final game of the season finally saw him performing his best and finally opening his goal-scoring journey. The Ecuadorian opened the scoring for the Blues, but it was a strike you simply had to see to believe.
The unbelievable goal happened after a hasty clearance from Cherries goalie Neto. He recovered the ball and sent the Stamford Bridge fans into a frenzy as he lofted his effort into the back of the net from the halfway line. The Chelsea midfielder took to social media to express his happiness regarding his first goal for the Blues after 47 appearances. He wrote:
“Happy to end my first season in this great club in this way. I really wanted to score and bring joy to our fans who supported us in every game and thank God I achieved it. This goal is for all of you. Next season will be much better than this one!”
Undoubtedly, the midfielder would be relieved that he finally scored at least one goal. A dry spell by Caicedo was the reason for him being the subject of multiple criticisms, as you do not expect such performance from a transfer worth over £100 million.
This goal was certainly very necessary for Caicedo as well as Chelsea because the star midfielder needed the positivity that had been missing for a long time. Now that his dry spell has finally ended, Caicedo will now play with some more positivity and without excess pressure, which will allow him to eventually perform as per his true potential.
