Ian Maatsen proves he is still following Chelsea with Raheem Sterling comment amid strong Dortmund transfer links

Ian Maatsen comments on Chelsea’s forward Raheem Sterling recent Instagram post

Ian Maatsen’s latest comments on Raheem Sterling’s Instagram post prove the fullback remains up-to-date with Chelsea’s current season run. Sterling, who scored an equaliser before Nicolas Jackson won, saw the Blues come from behind to secure a hard-fought 3-2 win.

Following the game, Sterling posted his photo with the caption, ‘’Never stop believing. Ready to give everything we’ve got for this European push, two huge games left,’’ Maatsen commented with two black heart emojis.

Maatsen, who is on loan at Borussia Dortmund, will play in the Champions League final against Real Madrid on July 1, and the left-back has been one of the most important players for the German club this season.

He has been integrated into the Dortmund team and will hope to win the coveted European trophy. Meanwhile, Dortmund hopes to sign Maatsen on a permanent deal next season, but their financial situation could act as a hurdle.

Maatsen isn’t the only academy player Chelsea has put up for sale; Conor Gallagher and Armando are also for sale. The Blues plan to sell their academy players during the summer transfer window to abide by the Premier League Financial Fair Play regulation.

Maatsen’s fortunes have been incredible given the 22-year-old was playing in the EFL Championship last season while barely getting any game time for Chelsea this campaign to reaching the Champions League final with Dortmund.

Ian Maatsen will play his first-ever Champions League final on the 1st of July.

Despite Dortmund’s plan to sign the fullback permanently, Maatsen’s decision will also play a huge role given that he is following the Blues’ current season. After joining the club for the pre-season tour, the 22-year-old hoped to represent his side this season, but with Mauricio Pochettino barely giving him game time, a loan to a different club only made sense.

More Chelsea news

Maatsen, who has flourished in Dortmund, will be aiming to win the Champions League for the first time this year. Since he has been so dedicated to them, the fullback deserves all the recognition for his performance. Next season, Chelsea will have to make a significant decision on his future, and it’s unclear if Dortmund will be able to activate Maatsen’s release clause.
