A View From The Bridge

Forgotten Chelsea flop could end nightmare England stint for £2.5m this summer

Who’s next out the door? Chelsea look to offload fringe players to comply with FFP

Chelsea FC are looking to sell fringe players going into the off-season to ensure the club can comply with the FFP regulations around financial incomings, and one of those players that is set to bid adieu to Stamford Bridge is Hakim Ziyech.

Hakim Ziyech made his way to West London following a highly anticipated transfer from Dutch side Ajax, as Chelsea paid just over £33 million to acquire his services in 2020. A transfer that was headlined as a bargain move has failed miserably for all parties as the Moroccan international failed to find his feet in the English top division.

The Blues have attempted to squeeze the best of the 31-year-old on multiple occasions under multiple managers; however, for no particular reason, his performances haven’t consistently met expectations. This inconsistency left the fans and the club unsure of his future at the Bridge, which looks like it’s heading to a conclusion this summer.

The former Ajax star has played 107 games for Chelsea, only scoring 14 goals and picking up 13 assists in his time wearing the Blues badge

Hakim Ziyech joined Turkish giants Galatasaray on a loan deal with an option to buy in a bid to rejuvenate his career. The Nike athlete has netted six goals and recorded four assists for his temporary employers this season. Per The Express, the Moroccan could end his Chelsea nightmare and move to Galatasaray on a permanent transfer this summer if the conditions-based obligation to buy clause is activated.

Any move for the 31-year-old to Galatasaray will only benefit Chelsea to as much as £2.5 million financially.

A loan move to Galatasaray likely to become Permanent.

It is fair to conclude that this move has not worked out for the West Londoners, especially considering the financial hit that the club has to take to sell his services.
