Fabrizio Romano says English club’s manager is ‘super keen’ on Chelsea job after Pochettino exit

Fabrizio Romano reveals Enzo Maresca is excited to take Chelsea job

Fabrizio Romano has provided a positive update on one of Chelsea’s manager targets for next season and confirmed that Enzo Maresca is open to joining the club from Leicester City. Mauricio Pochettino decided to leave the Blues after just a stint at the club on mutual consent, and since his exit, the club has been on the lookout for a new manager.

There have been plenty of names emerging to become the next head coach of the West Londoners, but it is still undecided, with the likes of Ruben Amorim, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Frank, and Kieran McKenna mentioned on the club’s shortlist for managerial position.

Transfer expert Romano has revealed that one of the targets, Maresca, is excited to take the Blues job and would be keen to take the managerial vacant seat. In his Daily Briefing, he said:

“I’m receiving many questions about the Enzo Maresca guys, and I can confirm that Maresca is super open and super keen on joining Chelsea. So it’s a concrete possibility.”

Will Maresca take Chelsea to the next level?

Maresca has worked in the Premier League as an assistant coach under one of the most pragmatic head coaches, Pep Guardiola. After leaving Manchester City, he took charge of Leicester City as their head coach and led them to promotion in the first season itself.

He has already managed the likes of Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, and Cesare Casadei, and at Leicester, he gave chances to the Italian midfielder, who thrived under him until he was recalled by Chelsea in January. He is also familiar with developing young players and given our squad has now enough Premier League experience they will be ready to contend for trophies next season.
