Journalist Ben Jacobs says Paris Saint-Germain unlikely to Chelsea target sell Xavi Simons

Chelsea and Arsenal’s pursuit of Xavi Simons has now taken U-turn, as Paris Saint-Germain are unlikely to sanction a permanent sale of the Dutch forward in the upcoming summer window.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs on Daily Briefing, the French side will hold talks with a former Barcelona academy player regarding his future at the club and give him two options: either send him on loan once again to RB Leipzig or keep him at PSG.

The German club is keen to keeping the 21-year-old for another loan spell and the final decision will be made by PSG. This will hamper Chelsea’s pursuit of signing the talented Dutch star, who are keen to add him to their youthful roster.

Simons has time and time again proved his worth this season, and his loan spell at Leipzig has attracted interest from top Premier League sides. PSG feels that a talented star like Simons needs more room for development and could loan him once again to help him continue his seamless progress.

The forward has recorded 13 assists and scored seven goals in 30 league games this season. It appears that Simons still needs additional years to gain experience as a player because it wouldn’t be a smart idea to bring him to Chelsea at this point in his growth, where things are turbulent.

Mykhaylo Mudryk was one of the players we brought in January 2023 when the team was in dire circumstances. The Ukrainian forward struggled greatly as a result and was unable to have a major impact, but he is still making an effort, so we must exercise extreme caution when bringing in young players.

And it’s also unknown how much PSG will demand if they decide to sell him as high price could put big pressure on the Dutch man to perform in every game. the Blues should instead prioritse in brining experienced player to help Mauricio Pochettino bring the change we have been expecting since his arrival.
