Ben Jacobs has presented a 4-man shortlist of managers to the Blues

Chelsea have been reeling hard as they try and find a replacement for Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine manager left a bittersweet taste in the mount of fans as he navigated through a tough season at Stamford Bridge. While Pochettino’s team looked good towards the end of the season, it was not enough to save his job.

Things have only gotten worse for the Blues ever since Mauricio left. He had led them to a top-six finish in the Premier League. Unfortunately, Manchester United’s FA Cup triumph over Man City has knocked the Pensioners down to the UEFA Europa Conference League.

There has been some talk suggesting Ruben Amorim and Xavi Hernandez are two candidates who could take over the Blues this summer. However, Ben Jacobs has revealed the team’s 4-man shortlist of ‘progressive’ managers with English football experience.

Jacobs revealed that Thomas Frank, Enzo Maresca, Kieran McKenna and Roberto De Zerbi are the four candidates who can possibly replace Pochettino this summer. While all of these are promising names, none of them have the credentials to be managing a club like Chelsea.

Not one of the managers on Ben Jacobs’ 4-man shortlist have proven themselves on the big stage. On the other hand, the man who was left out, Xavi Hernandez took a ninth place Barcelona team and led them to the La Liga title last season.

So, if the team isn’t hiring a coach that has a history of winning, it’s hard to imagine the team fighting for a ton of trophies next season. However, Roberto De Zerbi is an exciting candidate and could lead the Blues to glory. He has won the Ukranian Super Cup with Shakhtar Donetsk and could produce positive results with support.

One can only hope that Chelsea can make the right managerial hire this summer. If not, it will end up being another season full of heartbreak for the Stamford Bridge crowd.
