Opponent Watch: Wolves superstar returns to training in time for Chelsea clash

Pedro Neto returns to Wolves training ahead of Chelsea clash

As per Evening Standard, Pedro Neto has returned to training ahead of Wolves’ clash against Chelsea on Christmas Day for the first time in 28 years. The Portuguese forward suffered a hamstring injury in a game against Newcastle United in October.

The Blues will be wary of Neto’s threat, who has been in fine form for the Wolves this season, creating eight assists and a goal to his name in 10 Premier League matches.

His performance has caught the eye of many clubs, and Arsenal are among the sides that expressed interest in signing the forward, but the Portuguese is currently focused on this season, and his return before Chelsea’s fixture will be a big boost for Wolves.

when both sides meet on Saturday Chelsea should capitalise on Gary O’Neil’s team’s bad season—they have only triumphed once in their previous five games.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, the Blues’ performance have been patchy, as they have not routinely won. They have lost every time they have faced a team that is near the bottom of the league this season. Chelsea and Wolves have only triumphed once in their previous five encounters.

Neto’s presence was certainly felt when he had been out since October. The Wolves struggled to win matches, which saw them drop to 13th place.

It’s obvious that he will come in as a substitute as he is coming from a serious injury, and his introduction in the game will add fresh legs to the Wolves attack, who will be looking to cause serious issues to Chelsea’s defence, which has been leaky this season and has conceded many simple goals.

Being a creative player, Neto will be vigilant about finding opportunities to take advantage of Chelsea’s porous defence. With eight assists, it seems likely that he will try to produce the most of the chances. He will operate from the right wing; Pochettino’s choice of left-back to cover him is uncertain, but Colwill is the most likely to be the option to be deployed as left-back.
