Robert Sanchez admits he joined Chelsea thanks to their unbelievable project
Robert Sanchez has opened up about why he joined Chelsea and claimed that when the Blues presented him with the project, it was unbelievable. Hopefully, he will have a bigger impact than Kepa Arrizabalaga at Stamford Bridge and help usher in a new era of dominance.
The Blues signed Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee worth £25 million to compete with Kepa, who later left to join Real Madrid. This gives the summer signing an excellent opportunity to make an instant impact.
At Brighton, Sanchez fell down the pecking order under Robert de Zerbi, and when the Blues expressed interest, it was another shot at resurrecting his career. He has enjoyed a mixed start to his time in West London but should get better as the season rolls on.
So far the custodian has been decent, as Chelsea have just one win under Mauricio Pochettino. But with more games to come, hopefully, the Spanish goalie will bring stability between the sticks.
He also revealed how Chelsea convinced him to join them. In an interview with Sky Sports, Sanchez revealed that he was very tempted once the project was pitched to him:
“You hear things as the transfer window goes on, and when Chelsea got in touch, I couldn’t say no. What they presented for me, the plan that they had, it was unbelievable. The whole thing just looked like a real family environment here,” he says. “There was Ben [Roberts] and the relationship I used to have with him, Moises Caicedo, [Marc] Cucurella, Levi [Colwill], a couple of Spanish talkers.”
If you look at Chelsea’s currently project, it’s actually fairly straightforward, but you must have patience to watch the club flourish. By deciding to join us, Sanchez made the right choice. He is a good custodian who can have a bigger impact on the goal than Kepa can, and hopefully, he will safeguard our goal in upcoming matches.

Sanchez should feel home at Chelsea considering the Blues have also bought plenty of players from Brighton. He certainly has the backing of the players here, which he barely received at Brighton.
