“It is only a matter of time”- Mauricio Pochettino says Chelsea’s heavy spending will reap rewards

Mauricio Pochettino believes Chelsea’s massive spending will soon reflect on pitch

Mauricio Pochettino has urged Chelsea’s £1 billion spending in the summer transfer window to take time to reap rewards and hopes he will be there to witness the success.

Chelsea have remained one of the most active clubs in transfer windows since Todd Boehly took over as the club’s new owner. The Blues wrapped up their summer window with the signing of Col Palmer in a deal worth £42.5 million.

His signing has taken Chelsea’s expenditure to the £1 billion mark in only three transfer windows. However, the club has also done well in offloading the deadwood and accounting for a £300 million sale.

But Pochettino has already told fans that his side will take time to transform that performance on the field, as when asked if £1 billion was worth spending, (h/t Daily Mail) the Argentine manager said:

‘When the players recover from injury, you will see the good team that we have, for sure. The problem is that we invest today, but maybe we will be rewarded in a few years.

‘I just need to make sure I am still here. Because of all the sacrifice and effort I am making today, I still want to be here when the good things happen. Because of the talented players they (Chelsea) have, it is only a matter of time before they start performing.”

It makes sense because most of Chelsea’s signings have been young players who were loaned out to other teams so they could continue to develop. We have invested in guys with the potential to mould into the top players for the club. Since that is why the former Southampton manager was hired, perhaps he will be present to see our success.

One will see the media only discuss our spending, but we have also sold numerous unwanted players during the current transfer window, making a sizable profit. Therefore, acknowledging merely our signings makes no sense if you are unable to show that we’ve generated a sizable amount of revenue from selling players.
