“I don’t think it’s attackers”- Pundit tells Chelsea to strengthen this area in their starting XI

Pat Nevin has advised Chelsea to sign creative players instead of strikers

Former Chelsea forward Pat Nevin has asked the club to use more creative players instead of strikers, as he feels they will generate more chances for the strikers to score goals.

The Blues have continued their heavy spending under Todd Boehly, but the results on the pitch have not been satisfying despite appointing a new manager. They drew 1-1 against Liverpool in the Premier League opener before losing 3-1 to West Ham United.

Last campaign, the Blues finished 12th in the Premier League. But that hasn’t lowered the fans’ expectations, who want to see their club return to winning trophies as soon as possible.

Injury to Christopher Nkunku During Chelsea’s pre-season games, the Blues are once again in the market to find an attacking player and could also sign a striker.

Nevin believes the West Londoners should look for more creative players as they will create good chances for strikers. Speaking to the BBC, he said:

“I don’t think it’s attackers Chelsea need; I think it’s creativity. That creative player there has to give chances to the goalscorers, and then Jackson and Nkunku will probably score goals if you give them opportunities.”

Here Nevin has made a good point because we only have Enzo Fernandez who can act as a creative player in midfield, and we have seen in games how many good chances he creates deep from midfield. We also cannot expect Nicolas Jackson to start scoring goals instantly because it’s a new league for him and he could use some time to get used to it.

But he can also benefit from creative players around him. Noni Madueke has struggled with fitness problems while Christopher Nkunku is also out for a while.

The Blues are in the market for a creative player who can play as no. 10. There is a feeling we have sold the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount and Christian Politic without adequately replacing their profile, especially when it comes to experience and creativity in the final third.
