Manchester United set deadline in their efforts to land Chelsea midfield star

Manchester United set ‘end of next week’ deadline to complete Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount deal

Premier League rivals Manchester United have set a deadline to complete a move for Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The Red Devils are keen on expediting the process and would like to come to a consensus with the Blues as soon as possible. Any potential deal for the England international has to be ‘completed by the end of next week’.

Recently, the Stamford Bridge side have already discarded a couple of offers from the Old Trafford side for the academy graduate. However, it is expected that the West London club would be willing to sanction a transfer for £60–65 million.

United have already agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old. As a result, the Manchester-based club will put in a third bid to acquire the services of the midfielder.

Mount made his way through the youth ranks at Chelsea. He broke into the first team in Frank Lampard’s initial stint at the Stamford Bridge side and has since cemented himself as a pivotal player for us, winning the Champions League in 2021.

However, it looks like we are set to lose a valuable asset. Therefore, while the prospect of parting ways with the English national is not ideal, the Blues have every right to ask for a considerable fee.

As things stand, the Red Devils have players like Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek in their ranks. However, Mount would still seemingly get into their starting lineup.

On the other hand, Chelsea evidently need a player like the 24-year-old in their ranks. The midfielder has shown leadership at the Stamford Bridge side and means a lot to fans, considering we are his boyhood club.

Therefore, the Blues should not feel obligated to sell the English national. United should either fuss up what is being demanded or leave the negotiating table.
