“The best is yet to come”- Chelsea star excited for the project under Pochettino

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez backs Mauricio Pochettino to save the club following a horror season

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez believes Mauricio Pochettino is the best appointment for the club who would lead the team to success next season.

After arriving from Benfica in January, the 2022 World Cup winner did well for the team but got nothing in return as the club was unstable behind the scenes with managerial changes and crazy transfer spending leading to a bloated squad.

As a result, Chelsea finished in the bottom half of the league table and were nowhere near winning any of the cup competitions. But, Fernandez believes in the project under Pochettino and vows that the team will do better next season. Here’s an excerpt from his Instagram post.

Enzo Fernandez’s Instagram post.

“I still had half a year and there was an opportunity to reach one more dream, to play the Premier League and fight for Chelsea! Happy and more than happy with everything we have experienced this year.

“We are moving forward with the national team. We are moving forward with Chelsea that although the first semester was not as we all wanted, we know that this is a serious project and with people who are looking for the best for the club and this year we will show it!!”

Fernandez is not wrong here. Out of all the managers Chelsea could appoint after having a terrible season, Pochettino was the best choice.

The former Tottenham Hotspur boss can coach the good young players Chelsea have and gel them together to play as a team. He has the knack of improving players and making them world-beaters in due course of time.

The hope now is that the Blues have a transfer window where they focus on both buying and selling players. After bloating the squad with innumerable signings in the last two windows, Pochettino and staff must pick the right players to offload this summer.

Once that is done, the focus should be on buying players who could come and work with the manager to help the team get better from where they were last season.

The sale part of the deal is going well with the likes of Mateo Kovacic moving to Manchester City, Kai Havertz to Arsenal and more. The time has come to complete a few incoming deals as well. And for that, hopefully, Todd Boehly and co. give Pochettino the backing and authority he needs to make sure he can impose his identity on Chelsea.
