Chelsea willing to lower Manchester United target’s price tag

Chelsea have dropped Mason Mount’s price as Manchester United remain interested

Chelsea have lowered the asking price for Mason Mount despite rejecting Manchester United’s second bid for the midfielder.

United head coach Erik Ten Hag, as per Fabrizio Romano (h/t Express), has made Mount’s signing a priority as the club is expected to make a third bid for the England international.

Chelsea’s chances of keeping the player have been entirely dashed after the midfielder’s representative informed the team that they won’t be renewing his contract.

This has given United hopes to land the Cobham graduate before they leave for the pre-season tour to America. Additionally, it is anticipated that United will deliver their third bid, and the west Londoners are now willing to negotiate the deal.

Chelsea had previously demanded £75 million to release their academy graduate, but it is now believed that the Blues are willing to settle for between £60 and £65 million.

In order to shrink the size of their squad, Chelsea, who concluded the season in the bottom half of the standings, are looking to sell marginal players. Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino is anticipated to start his Chelsea reign on July 1, when he will start his training sessions before the pre-season tour.

Since Mount’s agent has once again told the club that he will not extend his contract, there has been a growing acceptance among the fanbase that he will leave. He appears to be keen on taking on fresh challenges as he has already agreed personal terms with United.

Now that the Red Devils could submit a third bid, we should realise that making a small compromise may not be a bad idea. It would be way better than losing the player on a free transfer next year.

Manchester United are getting a quality homegrown player who can play in a variety of positions and is still just 24 years old. Ignore the one year left on his contract. Chelsea have done well so far to drive up Man United’s bids. Let’s hope things are finalised soon and Mount is let go for good.
