Todd Boehly set to hold talks with Inter Milan over Chelsea star’s future

Todd Boehly will meet with Inter Milan to discuss the future of Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly will meet with Inter Milan after the Champions League final to discuss the future of Romelu Lukaku.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Express), Boehly and co are ready to meet with the Italian giants to address Lukaku’s position as soon as possible. The Belgian striker is currently preparing for the Champions League final against Manchester City on June 10th in Istanbul.

Despite the striker’s happiness at Inter, incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino is likely to give him another chance at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, Lukaku is ending the season strong and is currently in good nick.

At the same time, Chelsea have had a dreadful season, with the major cause being a lack of a competent striker. They have failed to score goals and this has proved costly, seeing us languishing in mid-table.

However, the Blues are willing to transfer the striker permanently to Inter. But the Serie A giants are unlikely to pay Lukaku’s £60 million asking price. Whether another loan spell is on the cards remains to be seen.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are eager to buy an elite striker for the coming season and see Victor Osimhen as the perfect number nine for the club. The Nigerian would be an excellent addition and selling Lukaku for top dollar will help us come up with the funds needed to land the former.

Bringing Lukaku back appears to be an unnecessary risk considering that he is content at Inter. It makes little sense to bring in a player who will be unhappy playing for Chelsea.

Despite Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for him, he has yet to make an impact in the Premier League since his arrival. Although he had great spells at West Brom and Everton, he failed to impress at Manchester United and at Chelsea twice.

So, even if the price is a bit lower, it will be a sensible decision to sell the 29-year-old permanently rather than keep him, since it will help balance our wages.
