Ambitious Premier League side emerge as possible destination for on-loan Chelsea star Joao Felix

Newcastle United are showing interest in signing Joao Felix who is on loan at Chelsea

Newcastle United have emerged as a potential destination for Joao Felix, who is on loan at Chelsea. The Magpies are interested in making an offer for the 23-year-old Portuguese sensation, and Atletico Madrid are willing to trade him, (h/t Daily Mail), as per Marca.

Felix is rumoured to be leaving Chelsea and returning to a Spanish club, but the La Liga heavyweights are thought to be uninterested in keeping him given the team’s stellar performance since his departure.

Atletico, which spent £114 million for Felix in 2019, is hoping to recoup half of that sum through Felix’s move, but Chelsea are unwilling to make that kind of commitment and has requested that the striker serve out another loan year.

Atletico have set a valuation of €100 million (£87 million) for Felix, and the Magpies are prepared to match that amount. Meanwhile, the former Benfica star wants to remain in the Premier League but wants to play for the club that will be playing in the Champions League next season.

Chelsea are in 11th place and will not play in any European competition next season, while Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be in charge of the club for the next campaign.

Newcastle are financially strong and a team with ambition. Eddie Howe is leading a revolution on Tyneside and one can rest assured he would be backed by the owners when it comes to signing high-profile names. They are also set to have the added bonus of Champions League football next season.

However, Felix has performed admirably for us and may be able to play to his full potential next season given that he joined us in January of this year. Fans would love to keep him in SW6, but there will be competition.

More Chelsea News:

Christopher Nkunku is about to join us from RB Leipzig this summer so we won’t be left stranded in attack. But Felix has shown that he can adjust to life in England and he is a player we should look to keep. Not for a high price, though… not after the uber-expensive windows we’ve had.
