“If I was him”- Pundit claims on-loan striker has unfinished business at Chelsea

Ian Wright believes Romelu Lukaku has unfinished business at Chelsea

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has claimed that Romelu Lukaku has unfinished business at Chelsea. The Belgian striker is on loan at Inter Milan and is expected to return to West London after his loan expires in the summer.

Chelsea wants to buy a proven striker, though, as they have struggled to find the net regularly this season. In Lukaku they have a proven goalscorer b ut he has so far struggled to impress in Blue.

Under Thomas Tuchel, the Blues re-signed the Belgian forward from Inter Milan for £100 million, but the 29-year-old’s impact has been limited to just eight goals in 26 Premier League games.

It is known that Mauricio Pochettino intends to keep the former Everton striker at the club if he is appointed their next manager. The Argentine helped turn Harry Kane into a goalscoring machine and hopefully can repeat the trick with Lukaku.

Wright, for his part, believes the Belgian could seek redemption back at Stamford Bridge. Commenting on the issue, (h/t Metro), the former Arsenal player said on his Ringer FC podcast:

“The word on the street is that Mauricio Pochettino wants him back.”

‘He’s got unfinished business here; he’s got massive unfinished business here. If I were him, I would love to know I’m going back there so I can shut a few people up. He’s got to do that. He owes it to himself to try.’

He may have unfinished business or prove those wrong who doubted him. But returning now could be costly given that he wasn’t all that productive at Inter Milan and only recently found his form. But who knows, perhaps winning the UEFA Champions League might help him take his talents up a notch.

Given that Pochettino intends to include him in his plans, it is imperative that we back the manager’s vision for the future. After all, it is he who has to work with the squad.

However, it will undoubtedly be risky and may go either way—either he finds his form or his return attempt fails miserably. But to dismiss his ability altogether might come back to haunt us in the future.
