Atletico Madrid open to £16m Joao Felix move to Chelsea this summer

Chelsea are keen on keeping Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix next season

Atletico Madrid are considering allowing Joao Felix another loan to Chelsea for the 2023–24 season, and the Blues are keen on keeping the 23-year-old.

Additionally, according to the Evening Standard, (h/t Football.London) Atletico are reportedly asking for £16 million for Felix’s next loan spell. It is also acknowledged that it is expensive because the Blues will also have to cover his enormous salary.

Even though Chelsea wants to keep the 23-year-old, they are hesitant to give the Spanish club his £87 million asking price to sign him permanently. The Blues, though, may think that signing the former Benfica forward for another loan spell would be a better idea than paying his current valuation for a permanent deal.

Felix’s transfer to Chelsea has been fair despite the fact that he has only scored three goals in 13 outings in the Premier League.

Additionally, the Blues anticipate that Mauricio Pochettino will be hired as soon as possible so that they can begin to restructure their roster for next season and trim down their overly large one.

With four games remaining, they are currently in 11th place in the Premier League under interim manager Frank Lampard, who will depart the team at the end of the current campaign.

Given that Felix joined Chelsea in January and hasn’t really adapted to life there, keeping him on loan for another stint would be a prudent idea. Felix has been impressive. With more time and experience in England, we can expect him to get even better here.

Although he will need to improve his off-the-ball moments since he doesn’t press much when he loses possession, he is still an elite forward with brilliant dribbling skills and an eye for a killer pass.

We do, however, hope that Pochettino would assist the Portuguese in these areas if he is appointed Chelsea manager next season. Finishing and decision-making in the final third will be a good start. Let’s not forget he is still just 23 and has a whole lot of time left to improve even further.
