Tottenham Hotspur in the fray for 37-year-old manager after his recent Chelsea admission

Tottenham in the fray for Vincent Kompany after his recent Chelsea admission

Vincent Kompany recently claimed that he is concentrating on Burnley and that he is not interested in responding to questions about whether he is a candidate to succeed Graham Potter at Chelsea.

Amidst this, the Daily Mail have listed Tottenham Hotspur as a potential destination for the Belgian manager. Spurs have apparently looked at him as a permanent replacement for Antonio Conte, who left last month.

Along with Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea have listed Kompany, 37, as a prospective contender to lead the Blues the following season.

However, as of right now, the negotiations between Chelsea and Pochettino are proceeding without a hitch, and the Argentine manager is the favourite to take over the Blues for the forthcoming season.

But during the past several days, Kompany’s identity has been up in the conversation, but the club is yet to move forward in talks with him.

And now the club is nearing the point of naming Pochettino’s replacement for the upcoming campaign. Kompany’s name, meanwhile, has been in the papers with regard to the Chelsea job.

Tottenham threat?

And the former Manchester City centre-back recently admitted that he wasn’t having much time on his hands to think about being linked with Chelsea. He said, via Daily Mail:

‘‘I’ve said I’m not engaging in any of these conversations. I have too much at this moment in time in my head in terms of wanting to win football matches. That’s the only thing I care about.’’

Kompany has done impressive work by guiding Burley to the Premier League for next season during his first stint as their manager. He has done exceptionally well and has undoubtedly garnered plaudits for his expertise in management.

Burnley still lead the Championship standings with 92 points, 10 places ahead of Sheffield United, but for him, the campaign is far from finished. Spurs and Chelsea’s fate seem intertwined given both teams are looking for new managers after Conte and Graham Potter’s respective departures.

More Chelsea News:

Both teams have been in and around each other in the table, are ‘big six’ clubs in England, are located in London and have a wealth of talent in their team that any manager would be lucky to get their hands on. Kompany is one manager we can afford to let go to Spurs.

He hasn’t proven anything in the Premier League yet and is only just starting out. If he does well in N17, he can always make the step up to Chelsea. There have been a number of managers to have managed both clubs in the past so rivalry won’t be a problem if we do end up pursuing him in the future.
