PSG ready to break the bank to land prolific 24-year-old Chelsea target

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to beat Chelsea to the signing of Napoli ace Victor Osimhen

French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to pay Napoli’s asking price for Victor Osimhen amid interest from Chelsea and other European teams.

According to Football Insider, (h/t ESPN) the Ligue 1 holders are willing to give Napoli €150 million for the Nigerian international in order to fight off competition from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old has been instrumental in Napoli’s rise to the top of the Serie A standings and the Champions League quarterfinals this season. He scored 26 goals and dished out five assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this season.

The striker’s contract with the Italian side expires in 2025, and teams are already eager to sign him as soon as possible. Already proven at the top level, there are few better centre-forwards in world football today.

Although Osimhen’s asking price would be prohibitive for many teams, PSG are prepared to break the bank. It makes sense given the uncertainty surrounding their vaunted front three.

Osimhen is admired by Chelsea, which has struggled to score goals, and Todd Boehly hopes to sign him for the upcoming season to help the team’s goal-scoring issues.

In their previous six games in all competitions, the Blues have only managed to score one goal, and they see the 24-year-old as their primary scoring solution. The likes of Joao Felix, Kai Havertz, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang haven’t been profitable in front of goal.

Victor Osimhen is in sight of many clubs.

PSG can use their financial backing to sign Osimhen, but they lack the character necessary for success in the Champions League. They purchased Lionel Messi and assembled a lethal three with Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Messi, but they were unable to capture the Champions League, which they coveted.

He also stated that he wants to play in the Premier League, and Chelsea would be the perfect club for him given that we consistently contend for trophies. His signing would undoubtedly increase the club’s level of competition, as we already have enough creative players, and Osimhen is a lethal final ingredient who consistently scores when the opportunity presents itself.

But that will be up to him; if he wants to rack up an enormous amount of money, he can join PSG, or if he wants to win the Champions League, he is always welcome here.
