Manchester United make Chelsea star a priority for the summer transfer window

Manchester United are keen on signing Joao Felix once his loan spell at Chelsea ends

Manchester United have made the signing Joao Felix a priority in the summer transfer window once his loan spell at Chelsea ends.

The 23-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window, on loan until the end of the 2022/23 campaign. There is no clause in his contract to make the deal permanent, handing Chelsea a potential blow in their efforts to keep him.

Prior to his decision to join Chelsea, Man United were interested in securing his services. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t Express) reports that the Red Devils are ready to rekindle their interest in the summer.

Nevertheless, it won’t be as cheap given that Atletico Madrid paid £110 million for the Portuguese star and would demand a similar sum from United. And they’ll have to compete for his signing with Chelsea, as the Blues could bring him on permanently once his loan spell is over.

Felix has been reticent about making a permanent move to Chelsea, saying that his decision will be influenced by the club’s qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League qualifying for next season.

Due to Felix’s excellence at Chelsea, the attacking dynamic of the club has transformed since he joined, giving our frontline more bite.

And we think this has undoubtedly convinced Todd Boehly to make a permanent signing in the summer window, but with United in the running, it will be interesting, and they may use Champions League qualification as a trump card to entice the 23-year-old to Old Trafford.

It will be uncertain where he will play considering that they have enough players, including Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho on the right.

And at Chelsea, he is given priority over the likes of Christian Pulisic, Raheem Sterling, and Mukhaylo Mudryk. But ultimately, it will be up to his decision, and it will also depend on who will be in a position to pay for his signing.
